Synopsis: A visually stunning tribute to the Greek island of Symi. Considered the mythical birthplace of the Charites, the island is named after the nymph Symi. In “The Iliad,” Symi is the domain of King Nireus, who fought in the Trojan War on the side of the Greeks, and was considered one of the handsomest men in the Achaean forces, after Achilles. The island, along with the rest of the Dodecanese islands, changed hands several times in the 20th century: they were under the Ottoman Empire, the Federation of the Dodecanese Islands, Italy, Germany, and Great Britain before rejoining with Greece in 1948.
