Plans are well underway and films have been selected that will be screened during the 12th annual San Francisco Greek Film Festival to he held May 9th and May 11th through May 17th. What began as a group of cinephiles interested in Greek film has grown to one of the nation’s largest festivals of films from Greece and films with Greek themes. This year 34 films will be screened over 8 days. All films will be screened at the The Delancey Street Screening Room in San Francisco.

This year’s festival will have a matinee showing on Sunday, May 17th, with two short films and a feature movie for their young cinephiles. A special day of shorts has been added to the festival’s program to honor the record high submissions– particularly short films– in this year’s festival.

The complete schedule is available online.

A fundraising cocktail reception will set off the festival’s week of events at the highly acclaimed Kokkari Estiatorio in San Francisco on May 8th followed by the festival’s opening reception on May 11th and closing reception on May 17th. The audience will have the opportunity to socialize with the visiting directors and actors during those events as well as during week of film showings.

The San Francisco Greek Film Festival is sponsored by the Modern Greek Studies Foundation and all proceeds benefit the educational initiatives of the Center for Modern Greek Studies and the Nikos Kazantzakis Chair at San Francisco State University.
